3-(Trichlorosilyl)-1-propanol acetate - Introduction
Acetoxypropyltrichlorosilane, also known as 3-(Trichlorosilyl)propyl acetate, is an organosilicon compound. Its chemical formula is C7H12Cl3O2Si.
Properties: Acetoxypropyltrichlorosilane is a colorless liquid with a pungent odor. It has a density of 1.24 g/ml, a boiling point of 152-153°C and a flash point of 57°C. It is insoluble in water, but soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol, ether and aromatic hydrocarbons.
Application: Acetoxypropyl trichlorosilane is mainly used as raw material of organic silicon anti-algae agent, water-proofing agent and adhesive. It can react with many inorganic and organic compounds to form silicate bonds, which can be used to improve the weather resistance, water resistance and adhesive properties of materials. In the construction and automotive industries, it is often used in waterproof coatings, sealants and adhesives.
Production Method: Acetoxypropyltrichlorosilane can be prepared by reacting propyltrichlorosilane with acetic anhydride. The reaction is generally carried out in the absence of water and oxygen. A common catalyst is hydrochloric acid.
Safety Information: Acetoxypropyltrichlorosilane is irritating, avoid contact with skin, eyes and respiratory tract. Appropriate protective equipment, such as gloves, goggles and gas masks, must be worn during use. If contact with skin or eyes occurs, rinse with plenty of water and seek medical help. In addition, the compound should be kept away from fire and heat sources during storage and transportation, and avoid contact with oxidants, acids and alkalis.
